Psychologists and a coach in Ghent
You don't need to know what you want to say before you come and see us.
Praktijk Lindevaart is a small practice in the centre of Ghent. Two clinical psychologists and a career coach see adults here, in the daytime and on three evenings a week. Below you can read who we are, what a session costs and how a first appointment goes, before you have to phone anyone.
Who we see, and when we refer you on
We work with adults from 18. Sometimes we are not the right place. If so, we tell you in the introductory call and give you a name or an address to go to.
What you can come to us with
- Worrying and poor sleep that have gone on for weeks
- Grief, after a death or a separation
- Pressure at work, or going back after a period of illness
- Anxiety that makes your days smaller
- A low mood you can't quite put your finger on
- A career choice you keep putting off (coaching)
When we refer you on
- Children and young people under 18
- Your GP, the school's CLB (pupil guidance centre) or a community mental health centre (CGG).
- An acute crisis or thoughts of suicide
- 112, Zelfmoordlijn 1813 (in Dutch), 0800 32 123 (in French) or a hospital emergency department.
- Addiction as the main question
- Specialist addiction services. Your GP will know where to go.
- Medication
- Your GP or a psychiatrist. Psychologists do not prescribe medication.
- A report for a court or an insurer
- We don't write these. For a court case, the judge appoints an expert.
Who you'll meet
Three people, each with their own room and their own way of working. In the introductory call we work out who suits your question best. You can always ask for someone else.

What a session costs
The amounts are here so you don't have to ask. What you pay depends on who you see and whether that psychologist works through the network.
| Session | You pay |
|---|---|
| Introductory phone call15 minutes | free |
| Psychologist through the network, first session50 minutes | €0 |
| Later sessions, age 24 and over | €11 |
| With increased reimbursement | €4 |
| Up to and including age 23 | €0 |
| Psychologist outside the network50 minutes. Some health insurers refund part of it through their supplementary cover. | €80 |
| Coaching session60 minutes, not reimbursed | €95 |
| Session by videoSame length | same fee |
How reimbursement through the network works
The national health insurer (RIZIV) pays for sessions with a clinical psychologist who belongs to a mental health network. In this example both our psychologists do. You don't need a referral from your GP.
The first individual session is free. After that you pay €11 a session, or €4 with increased reimbursement. Up to and including age 23 you pay nothing. Psychological support is limited to 8 sessions in twelve months. For treatment, the psychologist first draws up a functional assessment, during or after the first session.
Amounts as given on riziv.fgov.be, read on 12 October 2026. They may change. The practice and its prices are an example.
First step
Five short questions, each with the option not to answer. Then you read a short letter with a suggestion: an introductory phone call first, or a first session straight away. Nothing is stored or sent, and nobody makes a diagnosis here.

Urgent? Phone 112, or Zelfmoordlijn 1813 (free, day and night; it answers in Dutch). In French: 0800 32 123.
Your answers stay on this screen. They are not stored or sent anywhere.
